Jesse Campos with "Teen Challenge" presented an anti-drug and anti-gang message to students at River View High School on January 6. Jesse’s main purpose is to work with troubled youth in the Tri-Cities area and give them the necessary hope to maintain a drug-free and gang-free life. Mr. Campos brought along four individuals who have managed to escape that lifestyle and delivered the strong message, “Been there, done that,” along with “You are special and you deserve a drug free life.”
Isaiah brought pictures of injuries sustained while living a gang life. The message and impact to River View students was powerful, with several students waiting afterward to speak with presenters in hopes of getting more information.
RVHS Principal, Bryan Long said, “The impact was strong enough that they stayed to eat lunch with the students and share more of their personal stories. Some students were brought to tears and a desire to seek out Teen Challenge services outside of school. It’s always a positive when we have an opportunity to share that drugs are not a way of life.”
The Teen Challenge presentation at River View is a direct result of the school district in collaboration with the County Sheriff department in trying to prevent gang and drug activity. |
