How does a food service account work?
- Student is enrolled in school
- Student brings money to cashier
- Meal account is opened for student and money is deposited into the student’s account
- With money in account, the student may purchase meals
- When account balance is close to zero – cashier advises student to bring money to deposit in account
- If student brings money – there is no disruption in purchasing meals
- If student doesn’t bring money – student is not allowed to purchase meals until money is deposited in account.
Note: If the student forgets to bring money, emergency lunches are available to each student, limited to three (3) meals per month. Emergency lunch consists of PBJ sandwich, apple and milk.
- Students may purchase items for cash without opening an account.
- Free or Reduced price meals are available at our schools.
- If you need meal assistance please fill out:
- Income Guidelines (2010-2011)
- Letter to Parent/Guardian (2010-2011)
- Free or Reduced Meal Application (2010-2011) (Only one application needs to be completed per household and returned to your child’s school cashier or our district office.)
- Important Note: Applications cannot be completed prior to July. This is because the income reported on the application must be reflective of income earned during the 2009-10 school year. The school year is defined as July 1 through June 30. To be approved for benefits in the 2010-11 school year, income on the application also must report income earned in July or after.
