NCLB (No Child Left Behind)
According to the teacher qualification requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act, all teachers in the Finley School District meet the criteria of “Highly Qualified”, for the 2010-2011 school year. Also, according to this new law, parents may request information regarding the professional credentials of staff working with their children. Title IX and ADA/Section 504
Finley School District complies with all federal and state rules and regulations and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. This holds true for all employment, activities, and/or extra curriculum activities. Inquiries regarding compliance procedures may be directed to the Title IX Officer and ADA/Section 504 Coordinator at 586-3217.
FERPA
FERPA protects the privacy of student education records and gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s education records. These rights are:
-The right to inspect and review the student’s education records maintained by the school.
-The right to request that a school correct records which they believe to be inaccurate or misleading.
-Generally, schools must have written permission from the parent in order to release any information from a student’s education record. Schools may disclose, without consent, “directory” information such as student’s name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, honors and awards, and dates of attendance. For Parent Involvement
The Finley School District promotes the involvement of parents and other family members in the educational programs of their children. The district seeks to establish partnerships with parents and community members to encourage literacy, service, participation, and communication. Information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and activities is available in alternative formats, upon request. Please refer to District Policies #4130 and #2108 (as required by Title I Part A).
District Grants Review and Input
The 2010-2011 state and federal grants for FInley School District are on file at the District Office. They are available for parent and community members to review and provide input. These grants include: Federal IDEA Part B and Section 619--Regular and Stimulus, Federal Title I Part A--Regular and Stimulus; Federal Title I Part C Migrant; Federal Title II Part A Teacher & Principal Quality; Federal Title II Part D Educational Technology; Federal Title III ESL; State Learning Assistance Program; State Transitional Bilingual Program; and State Highly Capable Program. Safe and Drug Free Schools
Finley School District in collaboration with ESD123 is in the process of applying for Safe and Drug Free Schools funds for the 2009-2010 school year.
